Don’t Mess With The Ladies

There’s a little par 3 about four miles from my home in Downers Grove Illinois ….. One day I went there to test out a new putter.  After paying my  green  I walked out to the 1st tee and there were two older ladies. They asked if I wanted to join them…..Well, I thought I would never get home today before midnight! Anyway, I didn’t want to wait any longer, So I said ok. The 1st hole is a 330 yard par four with a tiny green. After deciding who would tee off 1st, one of the ladies grabbed her driver, pumped it a couple of times and indeed she did LET THE BIG DOG EAT! Man alive, I almost dropped over when I saw the ball drop about 240 yards from the tee on a fly. This lady was a GOLFER!

Sure, this sort of thing does not happen too often. However, let that be a lesson for you as it was for me.  Never prejudge anyone you don’t know on the 1st tee of any golf course!

The game of golf is one that is played by people around the world from a wide range of demographics. But, since there are so many little things that you need to know about making your golf game great, it can be difficult in the beginning. Keep reading for a few great bits of advice on starting out in golf.

Make sure you purchase a set of clubs or you won’t get far in the game of golf. Of course, it’s a good idea to rent a set of clubs for a few games so you can see if you’re even interested in making that sort of investment. Once you decide to buy your own clubs it is in your best interest to consider making an investment in your game by buying gloves that are professionally fitted for you. It is essential that women interested in the game of golf have a proper club fitting as they will need clubs that are shorter than the average man. Additionally, women generally prefer lighter clubs, such as those made of graphite and they tend to require a grip that isn’t too thick.

Professional club fittings will take all these adjustments into accounts and help you design a set of clubs that is custom fit for you.

How Women Can Get Started Playing Golf

A lot of women can’t find the time to play golf on a regular basis. This is because they have other prior commitments such as work, children and taking care of their home. This leads to their joints becoming very stiff. They are not as flexible as they once were, especially if they don ‘t play for a while. As soon as they get back on the golf course, they find that they are in serious pain. However, this can be avoided with a little flexibility and strength training. Being flexible will help you be accurate as well as shoot far distances. It is suggested that you stretch at least two times daily in order to avoid stiffness and pain. Strength training is also very important for hitting long distances and should be done at least once daily.

Great golfers are set apart because they’ve learned to control their emotions and reactions to their play. Many women can be thrown off course by emotions where men are often better at compartmentalizing their emotions. Women often continue playing rattled, turning one bad stroke into a long line of them, where men can either compartmentalize the bad stroke or walk away and find their inner calm. What happens is that they rush right into the next swing and fail to focus which results in an even worse shot than before.

The key in these situations is to refocus, practice a little deep breathing, and keep your mind on the task at hand. Everyone will make mistakes in their game, how you deal with those mistakes makes the difference between average players and great golfers. Remain calm and turn your thoughts to the ball; do this and you should have no trouble taking it from where it is to where you want it to go. Enjoy major improvements to your golf game by doing this simple thing.

Sometimes, playing a better golf game is about being objective and identifying your strengths and weaknesses. If you are straightforward with yourself, you should know which areas are in need of improvement and concentrate on them. This approach will greatly improve your golf game, even if it won’t happen overnight.
